JustEnough Software Launches Markdown Planning
13-Apr-2011 | News-Press Release
Newport Beach, Calif. & Atlanta, Ga. – April 12, 2011 – JustEnough Software Corporation, a leader in demand management solutions for retailers, distributors and brand owners worldwide, today announced that its new Markdown Planningsolution is available for retailers that want to better manage their inventory and product lifecycles while increasing margins.
“Effective markdown management can help retailers drive incremental buyer traffic, reduce excess inventory at the highest possible prices and support effective product phase-outs,” said Malcolm Buxton, JustEnough’s president and chief executive officer. “Our Markdown Planning solution provides an intuitive, interactive way to set multiple markdown structures while maintaining complete visibility into the impact they may have on inventory, revenue and margin. Creating a successful markdown strategy has never been easier.”
JustEnough Markdown Planning can help retailers create markdown plans at the product level and evaluate them at the aggregate level. The solution offers the following functionality:
- Markdown Structure Planning– Create markdown structures with a complete view of current inventory, price elasticity and product rate of sale. The results are instantly available, enabling planners to compare the impact of the markdowns on product margins, revenues and unit sales.
- Product Phase-Out Management– Set phase-out dates at the product level. JustEnough calculates which products are expected to exceed their phase-out dates and projects an estimated sell-through date. JustEnough can also suggest a markdown rate for the product to be sold at in order to meet the planned phase-out date.
- Financial Impact Evaluation – Plan markdown structures at a product level while reviewing the impact at an aggregate level. Integration with JustEnough Financial Planninghelps determine target markdown revenue and compares that with the calculated markdown revenue.
“Markdown management is becoming a competitive differentiator for companies vying for market share in today’s complicated retail environment,” said Sahir Anand, vice president and principal analyst, Aberdeen Group. “According to our data and assessment of JustEnough Markdown Planning, this application adds another pillar to JustEnough’s merchandising management offering. With Markdown Planning, retailers can use an added capability to price products from beginning to end throughout their lifecycles. Our data has shown that understanding the lifecycle concept can lead to higher profits and may have a direct and positive impact on the bottom line.”
