12-Feb-2012 | News-Press Release
Kovilpatti, TamilNadu ( prsafe ) February 8, 2012 - Etownvirudhunagar.com has helped the quaint little town of Virudhunagar to spearhead an internet revolution. This town that was once associated with Karmaveerar Kamaraj and the Panguni Pongal festival, now boasts of an online yellow page.
The website showcases a comprehensive list of business services and products across Virudhunagar. The effort is an endeavor of Mani Soft International Technologies Limited (MSITL) and aimed at connecting the various business entities in the city. Thus businesses wouldn't need to access for supplies and other raw materials from other towns as information is freely available through the site.
"Our aim was to increase employment opportunities in the town and make it easy for local businesses to access information. Visitors to our site can get information on a wide range of businesses like Virudhunagar fireworks, Virudhunagar match factories, tailors, beauty salons etc.," says Pyan Chella Vadivoo, the Director of MSITL and the brainchild behind this project.
Locals also get to know about other entities like Virudhunagar municipality, Virudhunagar parks, and tourism. The list is all encompassing and also includes information on local service providers including tailors, lawyers, opticians, yoga gurus, and even astrologers.
The description of each and every listing is bilingual (in English and Tamil), and inclusive of various features including videos, photo galleries and maps.
"Although the website is of great significance to the business community, our aim is to people from all walks of life, and all age groups. Thus, we've got websites where women can share recipes, parents can know about marriage bureaus' and youngsters get to know about job openings in their locality," adds Pyan.
Recent reports by the Internet and Mobile Association of India have indicated that the country adds internet users at the rate of almost 5-7 million people every month, and is likely to have more 130 million people with access to the internet. And the surprising news here is that small cities have been the torch bearers of this change. The data reveals that more than 7.5 million people in small towns and more than 16.1 million people in towns with a population of less than 2 lakhs have access to the internet. Thus, the myth that the internet is associated with the urban population stands busted. Etownvirudhunagar.com proves this right.
About etownvirudhunagar.com: An initiative by MSITL, etownvirudhunagar.com aims to connect the business community by helping them finding service providers and manufacturers.
