New solar website in South Africa aiding in the "green" movement

25-Apr-2012 | News-Press Release

The demand for energy and power increases exponentially daily thus putting more strain on the environment. This means that more coal and conventional methods of energy needs to be produced to supply the growing demand of energy. Alternative methods of energy are available at a very low cost to most, if not every, South African. Solar panels, solar water heaters, heat pumps and more can be installed to any home or business to aid in the “green” movement and in the same time release some of the stress on the environment. This is the aim of zasolar.co.za. By providing information on renewable energy and alternative methods of power this website educate South Africans on the importance of reducing their environmental footprint.

“It is imperative that South Africa realize the importance of reducing their carbon footprint,” said Mr. Christo Gaybba, owner of zasolar.co.za. Mr. Gaybba also said that South Africans can install equipment that will benefit the homeowner and their wallet as well as the environment, “many people are unaware of alternative methods of producing energy and heat by installing a solar geyser, heat pump or solar panels in their home. Luckily for middle to lower income groups many solar companies provide rental options allowing these groups to not have an excuse to join the ‘green’ movement.”

Another fact that shows the importance of installing alternative methods of energy such as solar geyser and heat pumps in homes is the rebate scheme that Eskom, South Africa’s only power company, provides. This scheme allows Eskom to subsidize the installation costs of the equipment by a registered and accredited solar company. “The rebate scheme offers two options to homeowners. The first option is that homeowners can apply for the rebate directly at Eskom after the installation while the second option allows the solar company to install the equipment at a lower price and claim from Eskom after the installation. The latter is currently the most popular option,” explained Christo Gaybba.

According to Mr. Gaybba, the reason behind ZASolar is to educate and offer everybody the opportunity to join the “green” movement by installing a solar geyser or heat pump in their home. A user on his website have the opportunity to get up to seven solar geyser and/or heat pump quotes thus allowing the user to get the best product at the lowest prices. “The companies that provide these quotes are registered and SESSA accredited companies and have a huge client database. A user receives up to seven quotes that will allow him to choose an option and product that suits his or her needs and budget,” he said.

Mr. Gaybba’s website also offers readers with articles educating and giving insight to South Africans regarding solar geysers and heat pumps. These articles include “Clever Ways to Cut Your Energy Bills with Solar Energy”, “Save Electricity and Save on Your Electricity Bill”, “Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy”, etc. These articles are written by experts in the solar energy industry and by providing up to date news on solar energy in South Africa, zasolar.co.za will provide the reader with enough information about solar energy and the importance thereof.
