Marriage Bust Up At Divorce Lawyers Business Lunch

16-Jun-2012 | News-Press Release

Otley, West Yorkshire ( prsafe ) June 14, 2012 - Leeds-based collaborative family law group CFL North found a novel way to publicise the benefits of collaborative family law by staging a mock marriage break-up at a business lunch in Harrogate! Shocked dinner guests, including the star speaker, Roger Black, watched in horror as a couple had a blazing row; however little did they know that the row had been staged by actors.

CFL North sponsored the recent Harrogate Business Lunch and used the event to highlight the fact that collaborative family law is the best way for couples to separate in an amicable way outside court, rather than taking an adversarial approach. Two actors put on a brief sketch of a couple falling out over lunch with one actor telling his wife - another actor - that he'd been having a row with his secretary! Robert Cresswell, Director of Gordian Financial Services which is part of the CFL North group who have collaborative divorce solicitors in Leeds and throughout Yorkshire, played the part of a cost-hungry adversarial lawyer, keen to step in offering to help the aggrieved wife take her husband to the cleaners through the courts.

"Guests were really shocked and surprised when the row blew up as only a few people in the room really knew what was going on! Roger Black was sitting very close to the arguing 'couple' and at one stage was nearly caught in the line of fire!" said Robert Cresswell

"We staged the 'row' to help highlight the destructive effect that the adversarial approach to marriage break up can have. Sarah Taylor, one of CFL North's specialist family lawyers, played the part of a collaborative lawyer who offered the potential clients to chance to use the collaborative approach to divorce. Collaborative family law is a non-confrontational method that avoids court hearings whilst putting the needs of couples at the forefront," Robert added.

CFL North are specialists in collaborative family law with specialist divorce solicitors in York and across the north of England. They advocate this approach to divorce as one of the best way separating couples can protect not only their needs but the needs of their family too: "Sadly divorce rates in the UK continue to rise, however we are seeing an increase in the number of couples opting to take the collaborative approach. Collaborative family law is ideal for couples who would prefer to divorce using a non-confrontational method. Collaborative divorce is also becoming widely recognised as being beneficial in minimising the negative effect that divorce can have on children," said Robert Cresswell.
