Game Developers Kwalee Reorganise Company

17-Jun-2012 | News-Press Release

Leamington Spa, Warwickshire (prsafe) June 14, 2012 - Today, because of the sophistication of modern games, artists are the front and centre of a gaming experience. Defining the look of a game, an artist creates characters, events and worlds that draw players into an entertaining gaming experience.

With 5 new iOS games currently under active development and several more prototyped, Kwalee is going from strength to strength. After their debut iOS app Gobang Social was launched globally last month, the Leamington Spa smartphone app development company has undergone major changes within their development organisation.

Headed up by recent hire, James Horn, the new Art Department is now a powerful, flexible resource for the development of future titles. His founding vision is to drive the visuals of Kwalee's games to a new graphical level and to allow creativity to flourish across development and marketing as a whole, by the provision of inspiring imagery and dynamic ideas.

With his wide experience in fine and digital art, Head of Art James brings his passion for quality and originality into games. His previous role as Senior Environment Artist for Activision at FreeStyleGames gave him the unique opportunity to work on DJ Hero I and II, designing nightclubs for the multi-million selling spin-off of the Guitar Hero franchise.

James previously worked at Codemasters also, contributing to major releases including the critically acclaimed Colin McRae: Dirt and TOCA: Race Driver 3.

Along with everyone else in the Kwalee team, James believes in pursuing excellence in everything he does. He is excited to be a part of the Kwalee team:

"I hope to make all Kwalee games artistically beautiful, the art team creatively happy and to ultimately make fantastically successful, and visually stunning mobile games."

David Darling, founder and CEO at Kwalee and Codemasters' co-founder, is thrilled to have an experienced artist to confidently lead the art department:

"James has the skill and passion to create great art work within gaming, producing fantastic ideas. We know that he and his team will create and develop new and insightful art for our up-and-coming mobile games."

David is confident that James will bring a certain 'Kwalee-ty' to Kwalee's prospective smartphone games.
