David Darling's daughter, Jessie, joins Kwalee making the company one of the most family oriented in gaming

Leamington Spa, Warwickshire ( prsafe ) July 27, 2012 - Since 1982, when games company Galactic Software formed, there has been a Darling making an impact within the gaming industry. David Darling and his brother Richard began making a succession of games from early ages, before founding the globally successful Codemasters in 1986, with their father Jim.

Now there is another member of the Darling family hoping to find success within the gaming industry. David's daughter Jessie Darling has joined her father's company, mobile gaming developers Kwalee.

At 17 years old, Jessie has already gained skills ideal to work within the industry. Studying Interactive Media at Warwickshire College, Jessie has been learning skills in photography, 3D modelling and animation, to name but a few.

Jessie is working as a Games Tester, alongside her Uncle John, David's brother:

"I thought it would be weird working for my Dad and uncle! But because we're so close, we can be honest with each other and sharing ideas is easy. We probably argue more at home than at the office!"

Aside from challenging her father to an intense table tennis match, Jessie discusses the benefits of working at Kwalee,

"I have learnt so much working here. Even though my family has worked in the games industry for years, I have never known much about making games. Before now I was more interested in spending my time playing them!"

"It's fascinating seeing pages of code and the artwork developed from start to finish. I'm getting lots of ideas or my college course. In the future I would love to learn how to program. That would be a big achievement for me"

Jim Darling, Chairman of Kwalee is delighted to see his granddaughter join the industry:

"Jess has a keen understanding of games and is dedicated to her role at Kwalee. She's a bright girl with a big future ahead of her, in or out of the games industry. Games testing is hugely important and a well-proven route into our industry. With Jessie's background she will do very well."

Jessie is keen to pursue a career in the gaming industry:

"I'd love to work in games, but I'm not sure in which area yet. I'm enjoying the testing experience and I also believe I have art skills that I could develop into a career. I've always been a big fan of Halo, so designing a successful character like Master Chief would be amazing."

Jessie and John Darling have been assiduously testing Kwalee's next game release, Pussy Flip, available on the Apple App Store next week.
