Trinity Catastrophe department has mobilized its catastrophe adjuster team and and are already inspecting, adjusting and closing Hurricane Isaac claims in Louisiana. "Isaac made two separate landfalls, both as a Category 1 hurricane," said Tim Doggett, principal scientist at AIR Worldwide. "The first occurred on August 28 at low-lying Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, at around 7:45 PM CDT. Instead of continuing inland as expected, the storm veered sharply to the southwest and re-emerged over the water, which allowed it to maintain its strength. It then made a second landfall on the morning of August 29 just west of Port Fourchon, Louisiana, at around 2:15 AM CDT."

The Category 1 Hurricane Issac, wreaked havoc, with heavy rainfall flooding waterways and the following losses were confirmed:

• Catastrophe modeling firm AIR Worldwide estimates that insured losses from Hurricane Isaac to onshore properties in the U.S. will be between $700 million and $2 billion.

• AIR estimates include wind and storm surge damage to onshore residential, commercial and industrial properties and their contents, automobiles, and living expenses for residential properties and business interruption for commercial properties.

• Much of the worst flooding occurred in Plaquemines Parish, La., where a combination of storm surge and rainfall caused water to top the earthen levees.

• Downed power lines, trees and other infrastructure were reported over much of southern Louisiana and Mississippi.

• The storm left more than 800,000 without power in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas, power companies told CNN.

• According to CNN, as more residents in southern Louisiana return home after Hurricane Isaac, many must now contend with a new obstacle: rebuilding their lives amid blistering temperatures and no air conditioning.

• "Heat index values will continue to range in the 100- to 105-degree range -- possibly higher in some locations -- and (will) continue to have a greater impact on people who still do not have power," the National Weather Service said.

• According to Insurance Journal, State Farm Insurance Cos., the largest insurer in Louisiana and Mississippi, said it had received 4,266 homeowners’ insurance claims in the two states — 3,805 in Louisiana and 461 in Mississippi. The company had received 1,144 automobile claims — 998 in Louisiana and 146 in Mississippi.
