BCI Asia Business Continuity Awards 2011

BCI Asia Business Continuity Awards 2011 (ABCA) in Singapore is considered as one of the most-prestigious accolades in the industry – was attended by delegates from various sectors and countries, to name “who’s who” in BCM today and to recognise achievements made in the field this year.

Winners of the Individual Category were: Sanjoy Das Gupta (BCM Newcomer of the Year) from Bangladesh, Frank Chow Kai Fat (BCM Specialist of the Year) from Hong Kong, Nalin Wijetilleke (BCM Manager of the Year) from Dubai and Vijay Kumar Magan (Lifetime Achievement) from India.

Vijay expressed his enthusiasm, “I am honoured to have been given this recognition by BCI, BCP Asia and the BCM community in India and Asia. BCM is an increasingly important element of an organisation's risk mitigation strategy. The future of business continuity is (indeed) in the Asian region, where more and more organisations implement BCM,” he said.

Sharing the spotlight and the same enthusiasm were newcomers such as Gupta – General Manager at Grameenphone Ltd. In an interview, he highlighted some of the benefits of the event, other than recognition, to people who are new to BCM. “The Asia Business Continuity Awards (BCI ABCA) has tremendous potential in terms of networking, knowledge sharing, and updating one’s self with current BCM trends,” he said.

Winners under the Business Category were: NCS Pte Ltd. (BCM Provider of the Year – Service), RBS Business Services Pvt. Ltd. (BCM Innovation of the Year), Grameenphone Ltd. (BCM Team of the Year), Maxis Berhad (Group Excellence in BCM), Just R Transport Enterprise (Group Excellence in BCM for SMBs) and Linus Information Security Solutions (BCM Provider of the Year – Product).

In an interview, Tracie Thompson – spokesperson for and Manager of Finance and Administration at Linus Information Security Solutions Pty. Ltd. – shared her views on what the award and the event means to their company.

“We chose to participate in the BCI Asia Business Continuity Awards 2011 to benchmark ourselves against other BC software products in the Asia Pacific region. To have this level of respect shown by our peers in the BC industry, is not only gratifying to us, but validates our position as the market leader,” she said.
