Caribbean Cricket and Family Fun Day Event

The summer of sport just keeps on getting better  ... The Windies have successfully toured, the Euro's football, Wimbledon   and the Olympics but no sporting event is bigger locally than the second annual Caribbean Cricket Soca Festival being held at The Caribbeans Cricket Ground on Scott Hall Road on the weekend of July 14th and 15th 2012 and best of all in these times of austerity its all free

Building on the success of last year event that was attended by 3000 people and attracted cricket teams from the length and breadth of Britain to play in this 20/20 tournament .Forget the Indian Premier League Caribbean Cricket Club is where all the big hitters will be right here in Leeds at the Caribbean Cricket Club

This year’s event spreads over a full weekend for the first time is not just about the cricket and to quote the words of Frank in tv's Shameless “it's time to party".

The event has the theme of family running through it is not just about the cricket. The event will provide    something for both young and old whilst maintaining its Caribbean identity .Bouncy castles, fun rides, face painting and for those slightly older rum and red stripe will help with the relaxation and make the event one of those not to be missed occasions.

The weekend event starts with a welcome dance on Saturday evening 14th July with the cricket action starting on Sunday morning at 9am until bad lights stops play. In true Caribbean style the sound of leather on willow will be mixed with the sounds of soca music with some of the best Djs in Leeds providing the musical entertainment, add to that the truly unique sights and smells of Caribbean cuisine.....Jerk chicken, curry goat, rice and peas ....world class food at a world class event. The only element of the Caribbean that can't be guaranteed is the weather but rain or shine cricket the day will be lots of fun

We hope cricket fans and non cricket fans from all over Leeds and beyond will come and support this great day of family activity here in Chapeltown .The Chair of the Caribbean’s Cricket Club Mr Harwood Williams commented “We are thrilled that last year’s tournament brought together so many elements of our community both here in Leeds and across the country in a carnival atmosphere and we look forward to another fantastic tournament this year."
