The Tour De France historic winner embarks on a ride from Belgium to the UK in an effort to promote the Belgium Cycling Paradise exhibition.

Eddy Merckx the famous Belgium cyclist has led a peloton of cyclists to London. It was part of a Belgium team PR campaign where a delegation of all star sporting heads rode their bikes to London.

Eddy Merckx won the Tour de France five times and is highly regarded in Belgium. 24 cyclists including other Belgian spots personalities made the 3 day stage route to London.

Cycling is a key sport in Belgium and the Belgians wanted to show they mean business for the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games.

The trip was 31km long, although far less easier for Merckx than the Tour de France which he won many times. Merckx and the pack rode from Brussels to Typress, Typress to Maidstone and finally Maidstone to London.

Belgium is the birthplace of cycle racing and they take the sport extremely seriously.

The Belgium Cycling Paradise has recently opened near Temple Underground Station in London. It's is an interactive exhibition and a meeting point for cycling enthusiasts. Belgium House is situated in an idyllic spot right by the River Thames in the heart of the city.
