Mountain America Financial Services Partners with 8 Pillars Financial Education Company

31-Mar-2011 | News-Press Release

SALT LAKE CITY, March 31, 2011—Mountian America Financial Services, LLC (MAFS) has partnered with the financial literacy company, 8 Pillars, LLC.  This new partnership will allow MAFS to provide financial literacy classes to both individuals and organizations.  MAFS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mountain America Credit Union and 8 Pillars is headed by Brian Nelson Ford, the organization’s founder.

“Looking at the current marketplace, Mountain America has noticed an increasing need to help people achieve their financial goals—a way to get back to the basics of financial understanding and build toward secure financial futures,” says Gene Erickson, COO of Mountain America Financial Services, LLC.

The 8 Pillars courses center on helping people connect their finances to their most important values.  The focus is on the principles of achieving greatness—not only financial greatness.  Ford believes that having happy families, making contributions to communities and having the ability to pursue personal dreams are the end goals. When people are armed with knowledge, they can begin to put their financial worries behind them and can then focus on living the type of life they hope for.

To help celebrate the new partnership and April’s Financial Literacy Month, MAFS will be holding a free financial literacy seminar on April 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Mountain America Credit Union’s H. Floyd Tanner Building, 7167 South Center Park Drive.  The public is welcome.  For seminar information, please call 801-325-6405.  In addition to the seminar, they will also have a financial literacy Facebook promotion for adults and children beginning April 4.  Go to www.facebook.com/macufb for compete details.

“Financial greatness comes down to taking care of what you can control. Of all the challenges people face in life, money issues should be among the easiest to handle. Why? Because money is an object; money is subject to our management. Ultimately, we have real power over our financial futures because financial challenges are manageable,” notes Ford.

Ford’s vision is to rejuvenate the country’s financial health one person at a time.  The 8 Pillars program works to accomplish this by providing first-class personal financial education at an affordable price—with no strings attached.   Ford comments, “To know how to do something and to do it are two very different things. If everyone did what they knew was good for them, we would all be exercising regularly, saving money, choosing healthy diets and avoiding needless debt.”
