ICF International Wins New Contract to Support U.S. Agency for International Development
06-Apr-2011 | News-Press Release
FAIRFAX, Va. (April 6, 2011) -- ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI), a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, has been awarded a new contract to support global energy efficiency for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the agency’s Energy Efficiency for Clean Development Program. The five-year grant contract has a value of up to $10 million.
Under terms of the contract, ICF will address energy performance improvement and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation at USAID missions worldwide. The program leverages ICF’s global presence in Brazil, Russia, India, and China, and long history of providing leading energy efficiency support to key U.S. agencies both domestically and abroad. ICF is currently implementing international energy and climate programs with USAID, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy, and the Department of State.
“ICF has long been the leading provider of energy efficiency support to government and the private sector in the U.S., and this new success builds on ICF’s unique ability to engage both market players and government in innovative solutions to energy performance and GHG mitigation,” says David Hathaway, vice president for ICF International. “In China and India, for example, ICF recently has trained more than 5,000 commercial building operators in low-cost energy efficiency techniques in 10 major cities, engaged large commercial building portfolios in energy performance improvement, and developed approaches to energy performance benchmarking and rating systems.”
“As the U.S. and other countries worldwide move forward in joint efforts to address climate change, ICF is poised to support U.S. agencies delivering integrated, proven strategies for energy and GHG management to its partners worldwide,” said Don Anderson, vice president for ICF International. “ICF brings very unique capacity for working with our U.S. agency clients to build capacity globally around energy, GHG management, and low carbon development. We have played an active role in the overall U.S. response to these issues for the past two decades, and this new program for USAID allows us to share a considerable body of accumulated U.S. expertise with partners in all regions of the globe.”
These skills will be increasingly important as the U.S. moves forward in fulfilling growing commitments to support capacity building efforts worldwide, as part of evolving global climate change agreements.
