3d Glasses Become Affordable

16-May-2011 | News-Press Release

Samsung has lowered the price of its 3D glasses across the board, including the cream of the crop, the SSG-3700CR. The ultra-light rechargeable active 3D glasses are now priced at $149.99, which is $70 less than before. The price cut has been introduced with an aim to make 3d viewing a truly family affair. Now other than the two pairs that they give with their 3D TV sets, families can add on to their glass numbers at $49.99 only. This means, that a family of four can now enjoy 3D viewing at less than $100. Even their high end models are seeing a price cut.

3net too has teamed up with Xpand and Sony to create content and 3D glasses readily available. Said Maria Costeira, CEO of Xpand: "With our glasses and 3net content, that viewing experience can be equally compelling on the laptop, the cinema and in the living room."

So while one waits for 3D to reach a technological height where glasses will no longer be required for a 3D experience, the advancement in glasses in itself is something to look forward to.
