TORONTO, Ontario – AppositeApps today announced the release of WineTour, the first iPhone App solely dedicated to the wineries and year-round events of Prince Edward County. WineTour collects all of the details wine lovers need to get the most out of a visit to the PEC wine region - so they'll know what's on, where the nearest wineries are, and when they're open.

WineTour features continuously updated open/closed status information to help visitors easily see which wineries are open now, which are closing soon, and which are available only "by appointment". Full, year-round opening hours are included with each winery's details so travellers can plan their visits in advance. WineTour also includes tappable contact info buttons for each winery so users can easily call, email or visit winery websites for more information, and they can use the wine varietals listings and editable tasting notes area to add and save their thoughts about each wine as they sample.

"My wife and I are wine enthusiasts and have made a number of trips to Prince Edward County to sample the excellent wines there, so we put together an App to help other visitors plan their trips to the County," said Cam Craig, AppositeApps founder and WineTour developer. "We gave a lot of thought to the features we wanted in a iPhone App that would help us get the most enjoyment from a trip to the PEC wine region, and WineTour is the result."

iPhone owners who have an internet connection can enjoy the benefit of WineTour's built-in location maps, with GPS turn-by-turn driving directions available at the tap of an icon. Winery location pins on the map are colour-coded to indicate which wineries are open for tastings. "It's disappointing to arrive at a winery only to find that they've closed for the day," said Craig. "With WineTour, travellers will always know that a green pin means the nearest winery is open for business, while a red pin says to stay on the road, and a yellow pin means that they should make an appointment via one of our integrated contact buttons, before they arrive at the winery."

WineTour also features sample tours of the County, so visitors can just hit the road and follow the suggested routes - or they can create and save customized routes of their own. 
Most of the information in WineTour is available without the need for an internet connection, so iPod Touch owners, or those with an iPhone or iPad who don't have a data plan will find it a valuable companion while travelling.

"We're committed to having the most accurate information in all our Apps, so we've worked with the wineries to ensure that the details included in WineTour are up-to-date - especially the winery hours since that is such an important feature of the App. We've designed WineTour so that its database can be updated continuously and be immediately available to all users, so we'll be regularly amending the info and expanding the features of WineTour," said developer Cam Craig.
