67th All India Textile Conference on the theme "Textile & Clothing - Emerging Global Scenario"

New Delhi : Delhi unit of Textile Association (India) will be hosting 67th All India Textile Conference this year in February. The conference is an annual event which has been held regularly since 1944. Delhi unit is hosting the conference after a gap of 24 years. The theme for this year’s conference is “Textile and Clothing – Emerging Global Scenario”.

The Chief Guest of the conference will be Ms. Kiran Dhingra, Secretary (Textiles). She will be joined by Mr. V. Srinivas, Joint Secretary (Textiles) and Mr. A. B. Joshi, Textile Commissioner as well as other representatives of Ministry of Textiles. From the industry side, the event is going to see one of the largest and best gatherings of speakers and delegates. Business heads of some of the most respected Indian textile and apparel companies will be part of conference deliberations including those of Indorama, Alok Industries, Gokaldas Exports, Arvind Retail, Vardhman Textiles, Ginni Filaments, Grasim, ATE, KTTM, Cotton County, etc. The conference will also see the participation of eminent scientists and researchers from reputed international organizations.

Mr. R. K. Vij, President, TAI (Delhi) said “The extreme swings experienced by the textile industry, in recent years, have necessitated the evolution of a new set of thoughts and ideas. The upcoming conference will address a wide range of issues and lay a new path for stable and consistent growth of the textile industry in India.”

Mr. Ashok Juneja, Conference Chairman, highlighted the fact that the textile industry is passing through a very difficult and critical phase. He said “This conference aims at bringing together the thought leaders and opinion makers from across the industry, and churn out ideas, suggestions and solutions which shall help the industry see through the crisis.” Speaking about the uniqueness of this conference, he said “To ensure that the participants get value for their time, we have parted with the standard presentation based format. All the sessions of 67 AITC will be lot more interactive and engaging for the audience.”

The conference will feature panel discussions on most relevant topics in current scenario. In very first session, CEOs of some of the most successful companies will provide their insights on business management aspect. In another session, representatives of technology providers along with reputed technical experts will throw light on the innovation and technological development in the sector. In another very interesting panel, there will be participation of second generation, young entrepreneurs who will present their views of industry over next decade. This will be followed by a session on global trade and competitive issues where panelists will deliberate on the changing face of global trade scenario in the sector. Realizing the importance of new investments in the industry, a separate panel has been dedicated for this burning issue wherein participating members will present their analysis as to how profitability in this segment can be enhanced. Completing the fashion value chain, last panel discussion will consist of retail industry representative and experts who will provide a peek into the mind of consumer and strategies of retailers to address growth in Indian markets.

Mr. Prashant Agarwal, Joint M. D., Wazir Advisors, who are the conference knowledge partners, said “Involvement of who’s who of the textile and apparel industry in this conference is going to be a key attraction. On top of it, the program and content has been developed to ensure that it stands out from other similar conferences.”

The conference is scheduled to be held on 4th and 5th February, 2012 at India Habitat Center, New Delhi.
