Female Army Captain Organizes Veteran Job Line

22-Mar-2012 | News-Press Release

Gardena, CA ( prsafe ) March 20, 2012 - War veteran turned media entrepreneur, U.S. Army Reserve Captain Lynette Jones is encouraging returning veterans to join a job line on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles this coming Thursday, March 22, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.

The purpose of the gathering is to make local employers aware of the benefits returning veterans, among others, have to offer employers as the economy continues to improve.

Hundreds of Job Seekers Will Congregate

Hundreds of veteran and other job seekers will be forming a symbolic employment line on Wilshire Boulevard from Veterans Avenue to Glendon this coming Thursday, snaking past the Federal Building that once served as a favored place for protests against the War in Iraq.

Jones, the founder of NewDayTalkRadio.com, has served two tours of duty in Iraq. She says that returning veterans are being overlooked by employers as hiring improves and the economy recovers.

"I have a military background and know first-hand that our US Military has invested a lot of resources to develop skills that are easily transferable to a corporate environment," says Jones.

"There are thousands of veterans with transferable skills available to help the American economy recover from the worst Recession in living memory. I am hoping that our public demonstration will raise awareness of the availability of highly skilled and well-educated service members who are eager to get the country back to work."
