PLAIN ENGLISH CELEBRATES ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH THE LAUNCH OF BRITISH STANDARD

06-Apr-2012 | News-Press Release

The London Olympics is not the only celebration to look forward to this year; 2012 also marks the 20th anniversary of Plain English Cupboardmakers. To commemorate this milestone in the company’s history and pay tribute to its humble beginnings, Plain English’s Creative Director, Katie Fontana, has designed a new collection of cupboards aimed at those who appreciate the quality of Plain English joinery but are working with a smaller budget.

British Standard by Plain Englishoffers a modest yet versatile range of cupboards, available in one style and colour and made from quality materials. Collected and fitted by the customer, “you’ll be buying a kitchen that’s been beautifully designed, that’s bespoke quality but has been pared right back to its simplest, no frills state” (Katie Fontana)

As leading kitchen suppliers in London, Plain English is renowned for offering the finest quality bespoke handmade kitchens crafted in the UK.Their new collection has been inspired by Edwardian Butler’s Pantries, Lutyens-designed country house kitchens and off-the-peg plywood cupboards of the 1960’s and 70’s.

“Honest and straight forward ‘things’ seem to be disappearing rapidly from our lives, things I’ve long since admired. I wanted to play my part in redressing that balance and design cupboards that were practical, inherently trustworthy, never fussy and that championed the best of traditional British design and craftsmanship. British Standard has grown out of the need for sensible cupboards at sensible prices” (Katie Fontana)

British Standard by Plain English launches on 16th March at the Ideal Home Show 2012. For more details, visit the website www.britishstandardcupboards.co.uk or call 020 7870 7688.
