The 2007-2016 Outlook for the Rice Market in Russia

21-May-2012 | General Article (Non-News)

During 2007-2011, supply of rice in Russia went up by 39%, from 1.1 to 1.5 million tons. Only 2007 witnessed almost 7% decline in rice supply in the Russian market in comparison with the previous years. Declining was caused by the lowering arrivals of semi-processed or processed rice form China to Russia in 2007. Supply was shortened due to gross violations of importation of goods that did not meet the criteria of quarantine safety. http://www.bharatbook.com/market-research-reports/commodity-market-research-report/the-2007-2016-outlook-for-the-rice-market-in-russia.html

In 2007-2011, it was gross rice yield that contributed to rice supply in the Russian market in the first place. The share of supply of rice in the aggregate supply for the period concerned was fluctuating between 25% in 2008 and 13% in 2011. It is the state support of rice growing in Russia that favours decline in the volume of rice import. Industry Analysis
