V.92 Modem Software with Duplex Mode of Operation on PSTN

Toronto, Canada – GAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) is offering its V.92 modem software which has duplex mode of operation on the PSTN. It supports increased upstream rates, quick connect and Modem-On-Hold features which allows the modem to work in conjunction with call waiting.
By employing pulse code modulation in the upstream direction, V.92 supplies a data rate of up to 48 kbps which is a significant improvement over V.90’s upstream speed of 33.6 kbps. This increase is made possible by setting the V.92 clock in the demodulation process and using it in the upstream modulation. This proves most useful in applications that involve large data transfers from user to ISP such as VoIP.
V.92’s downstream rate remains unchanged from V.90 at 56 kbps. However, there are several improvements over the V.90 implementation such as quicker modem connection time which is achieved by faster handshaking and shortened start-up time accomplished by buffering information on past connections.
The V.92 Server Modem has the ability to temporarily put the 'Modem on Hold' (MOH) which is particularly useful for lines that have call waiting allowing users to receive a phone call without having to disconnect from their Internet session. It boasts adaptive techniques that enable the modems to achieve close to the maximum data signaling rates which the channel can support on each connection. It can also negotiate V.34 modulation upstream (downstream) if a connection will not support PCM modulation upstream (downstream). In addition, the software supports DSPs such as TI C5000 & C6000 series, ARM processors and ADI DSPs and OS such as Windows, VxWorks, and Linux.
This V.92 modem software belongs to GAO’s family of Soft Modems. This line also includes similar products such as V.90 Modem Software which has a maximum upload speed of 36.6 kb/s and a maximum download speed of 56 kb/s, V.34 Modem Software which employs Trellis coding and provides adaptive signaling through line probing by adjusting to channel quality & capacity and V.42 Error Correction Protocol which is designed for optimum asynchronous-to-synchronous conversion as well as error detection and retransmission of damaged data.
