Online Heavyweights Claim 2012 Is The Year For Local Business Advertising Focus

21-Jun-2012 | News-Press Release

Oracle Digital, a leading digital marketing company in the country, has announced that it has made the necessary tweaks to its roster of products and services that will help local businesses develop more stringent Internet marketing campaigns that will result to a wider market reach and more sales in the end.

This announcement is in connection with the statement from National Advertisers saying that “2012 is the Year of Local” – which according to experts, is a signal that local businesses should start maximising the opportunities presented to them.

In a study undertaken by giant Internet company Google, it said that around 97% of consumers actually use the Internet when searching for local businesses. And this is why the company has incorporated its local businesses search and Google Places - with Google+, its very own social network.

With this revamp of Google’s local business search features, experts are saying that local businesses must have the proper web presence and a solid Google Places or Google+ Local listing in order to reach a wider market attracting more customers to their services.

GMS Local has also released a marketing report, stating the seeming importance of online marketing tools for local businesses. According to the company, approximately 20% of web searches undertaken are to look for local companies, products and services. The report also stated that this number rises to 40% when smartphones are used.

In addition, the report also stated other statistics such as studies showing that 50% of consumers are influenced by a local business’ ratings and reviews, as well as a Harvard Business Review study showing that every star that appears in a Yelp review for a specific business, will correspond to a 5% to 9% impact on the revenue of the company.

In light of these findings, industry experts and analysts are now calling on local businesses to take advantage of this potential – stating that they should start with their own online marketing campaigns accordingly.

James Corby, Business Development Director of Oracle Digital, shares this opinion by experts. He says, “Utilising Google features such as Google Places and Google+ Local is quite important, especially if you want to make more sales in the end. And with studies showing that more and more prospective customers are now using the web to conduct their local searches, and the explosion of smartphone usage – I suggest that local business owners should be aware of the services becoming available to their businesses online.”

Corby then explained how to make online marketing campaigns work. He says, “You need to optimise your site in order to gain maximum visibility, engage in the proper social marketing schemes in order to have better client ratings, and utilise other online tools in order to become more appealing to your audience. Fortunately, we have these services and we are always willing to provide them to all of our clients.”
