Provillus Seeks To Benefit From Propecia's Bad Press

22-Jun-2012 | News-Press Release

Los Angelos, CA ( prsafe ) June 19, 2012 - http://www.hairlosshaven.com reports that Propecia has recently come under intense scrutiny over their potential side effects. Many former patients have come out against the drug claiming that they were not informed about the long-term side effects of taking finasteride. "Most people seem to think that the side effects will go away after you stop taking the product. However, many people have found that these negative effects linger on long after they have stopped taking the drug." says James Briggs

The story claims that the side effects aren't common, but for those people who suffer from these effects they can be very debilitating. "Some people suffer from a lack of motivation and an inability to think. That causes them to suffer in their job, which affects their ability to earn a living and support their family."

The natural alternatives often being promoted aren't much better. Many natural hair loss products contain herbal ingredients that work in very similar ways to Propecia. Hairlosshaven.com talks about the potential pitfalls of using natural hair loss treatments here http://www.hairlosshaven.com/reviews/provillus/. For the most part, herbal supplements are safer than taking prescription drugs.

The main issue with natural treatments is that there are large number of people who suffer from hair loss that also take other prescription drugs. Supplements, typically found in natural hair loss products sometimes cause negative interactions when taken with prescription drugs. Saw palmetto, for example, could potentially cause negative effects when combined with certain blood pressure medications.

The makers of Provillus have recently started a big push to position themselves as a natural alternative to the embattled Propecia. However, it's unlikely that a natural treatment of any kind will be able to compete with a major drug company.

"I think they see this as an opportunity to get a few more customers coming in. However, they don't see themselves as a competitor to the prescription drug giant."

Unlike, Profollica (http://www.hairlosshaven.com/reviews/profollica/) and Procerin (http://www.hairlosshaven.com/reviews/procerin/) Provillus recently added minoxidil, a topical drug approved by the FDA for treating hair loss, to the ingredients list to be able to legally market the product as a treatment for in the US. That means that the product is no longer a completely natural treatment for hair loss.

Rogaine has benefited a lot since since the class-action suit against Merck was filed. Briggs reports that their sales have increased a great deal because of the negative press.

"I think when something like this happens people start to get worried and they flock to other products. Most people flocked to Rogaine instead of natural treatments."
