A remote wireless monitoring system comprises a control panel and a number of video camera detectors. The control panel is connected to Shadow Surveillance's Operations Centre via the standard mobile phone data network. The operator can view the vacant property live through any of the video cameras.

The video cameras are equipped with motion detectors. On detection of movement, the video camera will turn on and capture a ten second clip which is transmitted to the operator via the control panel. The operator will examine the clip and, if necessary using the live viewing facility, determine whether there is an intrusion in progress.

If the operator verifies that an intrusion is in progress then the agreed call out response process is invoked with a combination of a patrol being sent to the site, the property owner being informed or the police called. One of the key advantages of this solution is that unnecessary callouts (e.g. due to animal movements) are reduced. Video clips can be used as evidence in any subsequent prosecution.

Deployment & Costs
