History of Southwest Center Mall

Southwest Center Mall is a shopping center originally owned by the DeBartolo family, opening its doors for the first time in 1975. It was and still is the only major shopping mall in the southern sector of Dallas with Interstate 20 and Highway 67 leading to the mall. Its original name was Redbird, but due to crime challenges with the name, the owner later changed it to Southwest Center Mall. The mall is a 1,084.528 sq. ft. retail floor. Presently Macy’s, Sears, and Burlington’s anchor the mall. CityView Commercial purchased the mall on Sept. 30, 2009.
