V.17 Fax Software Supports V.24 Interchange Circuits

Toronto, CanadaGAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) is offering its V.17 Fax Modem software which implements the ITU-T V.17 recommendation for two-wire modem for facsimile applications with data rates up to 14,400bps. This V.17 fax modem solution operates within a multi-tasking environment or as a stand-alone application and is optimized for fixed-point arithmetic.

The V.17 fax software features half-duplex mode of operation supporting V.24 interchange circuits, and its frequency carrier operates at 1800 Hz with V.2 transmitted power level. It provides exchange of rate sequences during start-up to establish the data-rate, coding, and any other special facilities. QAM is used as the modulation scheme providing synchronous line transmission at 2400 baud. Its trellis coding rates are from 7200 to 14000 bps. This embedded fax software is compatible with commonly used processors such as TI C5000 and C6000 series DSPs, ARM processors and ADI DSPs and operates under such operating systems as Windows, VxWorks, and Linux.

The high performance V.17 fax software belongs to GAO’s family of Fax Software. This line includes similar products such as V.34 Fax Modem Software which is the standard for dial up modems of up to 33,600bps, V.27ter Fax Software which implements the ITU-T V.27ter Recommendation used in the general switched telephone network, and T.38 Fax Relay Software which is fully compliant with ITU-T T.38 fax relay specification while supporting V.17/V.29/V.27ter Standards. This line also includes Group 3 (G3) Fax Software Packages which is most commonly used for half duplex, Group 3 facsimile data communication along the GSTN or digital communication channels.
