Howard Memorial Hospital (HMH) will feature free health education mini-seminars, with topics ranging from orthopedic joint health to nutrition to exercise and physical therapy. The fair will take place Sunday, October 7 at the Willits Community Center at 111 E. Commercial Street from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In addition to being one America's top Critical Access Hospitals, HMH has an Orthopedic Joint Center that was named a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement by Blue Shield of California, which helps attract patients from all over the country.

Hip replacement patient Sheryl Greene said her stay at the hospital was "a most comforting experience." She continued, "I felt really cared for…I felt like [hospital staff] were my family for those four days." She described her life before surgery with pain that limited her from gardening and other activities. "I couldn't get off the ground very easily and I thought, 'This is no way to live.'" After surgery, she choked up with emotion as she said, "I feel like I've got about ten years of my life back."
