Dimetix USA News

18-Jul-2011 | News-Press Release

July, 2011. Introducing the Dimetix EDS-C30 laser sensor is our entry level non-contact distance sensor that measures up to 30 meters on natural targets. This laser can measure with an accuracy of 3mm in applications which are not conducive to traditional contact methods, such as hostile or hot environments. The EDS laser’s compact size permits the device to be mounted in tight spaces. Often times, equipment used in manufacturing processes must be adjusted when changing-over to produce various versions of products. By making positioning adjustments more repeatable, process quality improvements and setup time reductions often result. With its low cost and typical Dimetix industrial ruggedness, the EDS-C30 laser can be used as a non-contact position indicator. The indication can be a stand-alone display or integrated into process controls, such as PLC’s. Dimetix USA is the exclusive USA distributor for Dimetix laser distance sensors.

FEATURED APPLICATION:

Bridge structural monitoring

Ten DLS-C15 laser distance sensors from Dimetix USA were lifted aboard a 2,650 ton steel bridge truss section over the Mississippi River in New Orleans, Louisiana. DIMETIX USA made history when Tom Weinmann of Applied GeoMechanics (Buffalo Grove, IL; www.geomechanics.com) worked with MTI in New Orleans to monitor the lifting of a truss section on the Huey P. Long Bridge. The Dimetix DLS-C15 laser distance sensors were used in conjunction with specially fabricated targets and software developed by Applied GeoMechanics to monitor beam deflection during the day long lift. The project involved barging in and lifting pre-assembled spans to reduce stress on the bridge and minimize interruption of traffic.
