A New Heritage Museum Launched By the Uganda Tourism Minister

11-Feb-2012 | News-Press Release

The Uganda Minister of Tourism yesterday, mourned the lack of financial support to the tourism sector when launching a heritage museum in Mbarara. At this occasion, he took up the chance of asking more funding to the tourism since it contributes a lot to the development of the Country. He furthermore said that he is going to pursued the government to provide a bigger percentage to the sector because it has the potential to bring in foreign exchange, create jobs as well as bring in investors.

This year is known as Visit Uganda 2012 therefore we must work hard to see that many tourists come to the pearl of Africa. Uganda is lagging behind because it doesn’t have sufficient information on how to promote as well as market the industry, our neighboring countries like Kenya, gorilla trekking safari, Rwanda and Tanzania are much better than Uganda. Our tourism sector is yarning for more funding to rank the best in Africa.

The president of Uganda was present as launch of the new museum was taking place in the western part of Uganda. He as well realized how the sector has been abandoned to survive on its own. All the remarks that were put cross seemed right and he said that he has to do something to have it developed and compete favorably with other destinations in Africa. Quotation was supposed to be sent to the ministry of Finance for the next budget to be read.

In most times, lodges and hotels are fully booked during the peak season of tourism which shows that we have the potential to make the industry much better. Visiting any national park in Uganda will show how Uganda is gifted by nature,Mountain gorillas, all kinds of wildlife are found in these areas and believe me your visit will always be memorable. The Accommodation is up to standard to meet people’s demands and expectations. The facilities and services are excellent. Sincerely with all this put in place, we just need a little support from the government to increase on the facilities that we have so as to attract many tourists from different parts of the world.
