Toronto, Canada - GAO RFID Asset Tracking (www.GAORFIDAssetTracking.com) has announced the release of its Gen 2 CF RFID reader/writer which is designed for mobile applications. It is ideal for small to medium size businesses to handle anything from meeting government mandates to managing RFID labeling for supply chains.

This Gen 2 (UHF) compact flash (CF) RFID reader/writer, model 236008, supports any standard CF interface and can be used on the desktop with most PCs and laptops or in the field with a PDA. It is compatible with EPC Class 1 Gen 2 protocol and operates at frequency range of 860 to 960 MHz, thus supporting North America, EU and other worldwide standards.

This handheld and compact reader/writer offers a read/write distance of up to 50 cm. The RF output power range is from 5 to 27 dB. It consumes little power in its various modes: 5 mA in sleep mode, 170 mA in idle mode, and 800 mA at 27 dBm, 650mA at 24 dBm and 500 mA at 21 dBm in scan mode.

This Gen 2 (UHF) compact flash (CF) RFID reader/writer belongs to GAO's family of Healthcare Asset Tracking Readers. This line of products includes a wide variety of RFID readers. One featured product is 433 MHz Active RFID L-Series Reader with RS485/RS232 which detects and decodes RF transmitted signals from the Wavetrend family of tags and can be used in stand-alone mode or in a multi-drop asynchronous network where the "Node ID" is automatically assigned. Another is 13.56 MHz PFID HF Bluetooth Reader/Writer which uses Bluetooth (Class Two) technology to upload tags ID to Bluetooth based computers/PDAs in a real-time mode and is widely used in the industries of security / Patrol / Mining / Finance and Railway system.
